We have had to change our frequency because the frequency range for Low-power fm stations has changed.

We can no longer use 88.4 so have chosen to use 87.7.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

We did not plan for this change very well - we were actually forced to change quickly when we got a visit from a broacasting license officer.

Our new whanau whare (communal house) at the foot of the Papamoa Hills is available over the new year period and is a short 7 mins drive from Papamoa beach, Te Puke and Welcome Bay and about 15 mins drive to the Mount.

The whare is in a rural setting, designed on Marae based principles with communal sleeping area that can sleep up to 30 people comfortably (we have mattresses and pillows).  The communal dinning area can cater for large groups.  The whare has 2 ablution rooms with 2 showers, 2 toilets and washbasins in each.  Six burner gas stove with electric oven, huge double door glass fridge and smaller fridge freezer and huge metro rad fireplace.  Linen including towels supplied.  The local laundromat is close by.

We have a recycling waste water system that feeds a paa harakeke (flax grove) and are on tank water so enviro friendly products and water conservation is important.  We have a huge covered north/west facing cobbled patio area great for BBQs and sunsets.  Smoking outside ok, alcohol in moderation. No pets.

This is a great opportunity to get your whole family or friends to the Mount/Papamoa for a holiday without breaking the bank.  If you are interested please contact Victoria Kingi v.kingi@xtra.co.nz

New station spreading positive vibrations across Papamoa

Radio Papaka, a new radio station based in Papamoa is now broadcasting on 88.4 fm and will soon be streaming at www.radiopapaka.co.nz. Papaka is the paddle crab, which is abundant in Papamoa.

Radio Papaka has been launched by Pat Kingi, an avid music collector, DJ and past host of “The Boil-up” at Auckland’s Base fm and program director of internet radio station “boil-up radio”.  Radio Papaka is designed to appeal to all ages and is dedicated to music with positive messages.

“The scheduling of 2 hour shows provides a little something for everybody from the freshest roots reggae to old soul, from the latest r’n’b  to classic disco, from conscious hip-hop to 70s jazz. I’ve also called upon some old mates from around the country to contribute shows to keep the sound fresh, interesting and real.  The station will provide free local community notice boards morning and afternoon (great for schools and our sports clubs) and discounted local advertising” says Pat.

Go to www.radiopapaka.co.nz. for contact information, to post community notices, check out the show schedule and news or what’s playing now.
